Not a good morning

I got up at 6, way to early for the amount of sleep I had, with the intention to get everything printed today, and that was unfortunately not how it ended up. The sun was shining for the first time in a week or something and the only thing I wanted was to recover in it, but I worked and made some final adjustments before I headed off to the train just to find out that there is replacement buses instead of trains until Tuesday. Small, slow buses. I missed the first one.

My first mission was to sell my iPod to someone in Wynyard, and so I crossed Harbour Bridge just to find out that as I handed it over I had forgot to empty it. I was ashamed but happy that I had my computer with me to be able to recharge it and delete all the settings. This happened on a bench of the railway station with them waiting for me.

After that my plan was to go north across Harbour Bridge again to the Office Works store there, because that store is closer to our house. I had to search a long time for the replacement buses before I could go back and they were leaving, over full, every 25 minutes instead of a train every ten minutes. Good solving of problem, there!

When I stood in North Sydney outside a dark and closed Office Works I shouted out loud "Nej! Nej NEEJ" in Swedish and saw myself stand there and wait again for the slow replacement bus. Now way, I thought, and actually got into a cab, across the bridge again, to the other Office Works that was open.

I was all sweaty and stepped into the store full of hope. The guy in the store tells me that they have too many printouts to do today, and that I have to book a time for it tomorrow. The problem is that I'm in school tomorrow from 8.30 to 17.30. I could get the last time tomorrow evening at 17.45, which means I have to take a cab again tomorrow.

Also, the whole folder with my branding things needs to be made tomorrow evening and night which I thought would be done today. I started crying, I have worked so hard on this just to get it printed at the right time, just to find out that the time is not enough.

I will fix this, but it is quite a lot to do tomorrow evening. I cried all the way home to my little family who welcomed me with open arms and hugs before I "stupade" down on the grass in the sun and fell asleep, exhausted.
Now, three hours later, I'm up and running again. But I can tell you that this time I am really longing for production week (calmer week without lessons) after this week, with start Thursday afternoon until the 15th. I will fill that week with nice people, time for myself, photographing, being in the sun if there is any and most importantly, I will go SURFING. I'll look for my own board now on Gumtree before I start working on my other assignments! Take care, guys, and don't be worried, not every day is like this. And I have learned that printing takes longer time than you think.

Glebe Point market & Materials for my brand!

This market is heaven for Freja's. Just look at the skin bags! I found some ”fynds” too!
Needed a break and a non-working-day. Feeling great after some "mys" in our sofa with discussions of childhood-memories. Tomorrow I will go for a run and then continue with my branding assignment. I look forward to both of it!

Tough days w printing!

These 24 hours have been kind of insane. On Tuesday morning the branding our self - assignment needs to be handed in and I had planned for the printers to be open on Saturdays, which they are obviously not. There is a lot of printers in north Sydney around school and some of them are better than others.

Thursday afternoon I walked around to check out different stocks and possibilities and when I finally found the right one, it will will take too long to get it printed. Lesson learned: be even more early when you are planning to print something. A LOT of things can go wrong.

Anyway, I sat down yesterday at 4 in the afternoon, after a night with loss of sleep, sat until 2 in the night, got up at 8 and worked until 3 in the afternoon with barely no break. I counted on that and it hit me that I have been working on this for 18 hours out of 24! Whoa! After that I spent the whole evening running around in town handing some of it to a printer whereas I will print the rest at the one and only store - always open - Office Works! Not the best printer, but they will always be there for you - no matter what.

On my way home I almost fell asleep - walking. I just made a great dinner with chicken, bulgur, feta cheese and some kind of salad with "groddar". My second big plan for this evening is to watch a movie in our blue sofa with Jacob and then sleep until I wake (the first time in a long time).

Tomorrow some of us will go to Glebe Point Market - I'll show you some pictures from hat tomorrow.

Good night!

Hard work, work!

With sun-rain in the air, tropical bird sounds from outside,  a cup of warm chamomille tea and myself wrapped around in a blanket-sort-of-morning-robe in zebra-slash-white-tiger-pattern, I'm more than ready to do some work!

New feature

Hi guys!

I've just added a new feature to the right here, where you easier can follow a specific subject, for example posts related to photo or Studio Practice. That will help you navigate around.

Happy reading!

Swedish summer memories

Now my demographic is finally finished and printed out!

This is Amanda and Niklas. We made grillspett for Easter dinner!

I am right now working on an assessment for Symbols & distribution where we need to take photos of 5 teachers at school and come up with a way of pixelating them. I chose to do it the TV-game-way, and you’ll see more o these tomorrow.
This is Jacob and behind the red light Martin, experimenting with paper to create a more party-kind-of-light

Breakfast in our wonderful garden!

Drying - rope or something along those lines, ha ha.

Swimming-pool-feet
Tomorrow will consist of training and continue working on all our projects, as Wednesday too, from early morning to late night.
I need to use every minute since I have been relaxing a lot during the weekend. See you tomorrow!

Need more roomies!

... and here is our ad, produced by Jacob and I!
Right-klick on it and open it up in a new window to be able to see what we have written!

Today my first intention was to get up and surf at 6 but the rain was pouring down, so I'll wait until the afternoon or tomorrow. I will join my friends to Glebe market, a wonderful pace filled with "fynd"! In the night we will have a party!

Work in progress & our blue house!

I can give you the advice that sometimes it’s much more fun to work with someone rather than sitting by yourself, even though you don’t work with the same things. Yesterday Niklas and I stayed up working until 3 am, so I didn’t get that much sleep, but I was so motivated to work on the spread for the Giants of Typography - brochure! Here is what I have done so far, and during the Easter break I will make two more spreads, a front cover and a back cover. I really tried to reflect what Jan Tschichold stands for in my layout using the grid in a different way, but at the same time make it easy to read and keep the reader’s interest. There is a LOT more to layout than I thought from the beginning. I am starting to fall in love with it, guys. Today I got really good feedback on this spread, which made me very happy since I have worked so hard. Now I just have to work with the text a bit more and then try to keep the rest of the spreads consistent.

Typography & Context

This project is in progress, with a lot more to do, and produce, but I felt like showing you in which direction I’m going with my press kit for Istanbul love hotel. I have to work more on integrating cultural influences a bit more, though.

Studio Practice
I have come up with some patterns that will go with my brand, but I don’t feel like posting a picture of the rest of it yet. I don’t know why but with this assignment I want it to be finished before I show it to you.

Frameworks of Design

I had a wonderful day today despite my loss of sleep, starting with the good feedback at the Typography & Context - lesson. After that I felt I needed to do something else than work and Jakob (I’ll hopefully post a pic with our collective family after the weekend) told me that we have access to a pool in the garden next to our collective! Perfect, and I went there. I haven’t been in the sun since I went surfing two weeks ago (which I’ll hopefully do more of this Easter) so it felt wonderful just lying there. After that I went for a really intense run - wonderful.

When I came home something happened that made me clean the whole bottom floor; kitchen and living room. I washed the floor by hand, washed all the carpets and towels, cleaned the shelves and the desk so that everything was shiny. I was like a tornado, finally blowing in to the shower before I could relax.

After that, I felt complete, and ate some good food from yesterday combined with some wine. It’s important to have some moments of joy every day, even though it’s a Thursday liksom. And some dark chocolate...

Now I have a date with my love at Skype. God, I love both you and Skype, Daniel.

Plans

Finally I have found my routines on this place too. I celebrated by running in a park. When I was done I found an old football and I started missing my old soccer team! I stood there, kicking the ball and decided that I will buy a good one for myself.

I feel like home in our collective, with movie nights, laughter and by helping each other.
This thanks to:

If you have any suggestions on a name for our blue colored Swedish collective, feel free to post a comment.

I am still working at refining my logo a bit more, but I have started to make some patterns to go with my brand. I'll post some sketches soon. Also, there are just two weeks to go before it has to be printed and handed in, wrapped by some sort of folder to go with the brand essence.

Tomorrow I'll be up 6.15, running again and the following hours after that will be full of different un-shool-things I have to do but now feel very motivated to do. Bank things, mobile things and hand in my favorite leather shoes. I have collected everything to be done the same day! After that I will to continue with the brochure "Giants of Typography", 8 pages. For Thursday we will need to have printed out the first spread.

Thursday afternoon I will complete my demographics to send to print the day after, Friday. Probably it will be done a couple pf hours later and then I will hand it in at school.

Then it's Easter break until next Thursday! Except a lot of assignments to be worked on from school, I will take time for running, hanging out with friends, surfing, going to Glebe market and actually clean the house.

One of the days Friday or Saturday we will have a party in our collective which I am very much looking forward to.

My own spot!

I am feeling so happy. I've got my own space and that's not something to take for granted. I got help from a guy at the hostel to drive my things across Harbour bridge, and there I was, in an empty blue room in a cozy collective close to school.

I share the room with a Swedish girl who will be living here for about 6 weeks. After her I'm not sure who's going to move in, but I hope Malin will.

Effective as I am, five hours later it looked like I had been living in this room for a year. I'm the only one in the house who's got plants, a desk and a chair and I already feel like home. FINALLY I can sit and work on a clean area instead of in a hostel bed as a result of tables with jam on them. I have put together everything by myself and now I'm sitting here amongst my plants in a colorful room longing for getting started with my assignments on my colorful desk!
