A Tuseday's work

This is my autumn - steps in Sydney on big leafs.

This is my gift for people attending my brand event. The event will be as following, inspired by the blue plastic transparency of my brand folio. This is a quick draft of it: For my launch event I wanted something different, fun, a bit adventurous and outside, a warm summer day. I got inspired by and wanted to use transparency, as the one used in my branding. Also, I wanted to engage and activate the people attending to make the atmosphere warm and relaxed. At the sunny astroturf rooftop of Vibe Hotel I will have a pool mingle party for my guests. I chose that place because of the view and the feeling of being in the air, flying. Next to the pool there will be a huge blown up plastic bird, the same as my logo, which will also be seen from the ground and the surroundings. There will be real palm trees, flowers and other plants. The trees and larger plants will be full of my business cards; birds sitting everywhere. In the background there will be tropical bird sounds accompanied with jazz music to maintain a relaxing atmosphere. When people come, they need to wear swimming clothes underneath their party clothes. Also, when entering the party, they will be given a snorkeling gift kit in a Kolibri Design Studio packaging. This will be used to be able to look at my work, which will be in the bottom of the swimming pool. Warm towels will be handed out afterwards, together with a fresh caiprinha drink filled with lime. There will be served small fruit salads in blue plastic cups with hot melted chocolate, passion fruit seeds and eatable flowers as garnishment. The event will be from 3 pm to 6 pm.

This is brainstorming training which we got today at the Frameworks of Design lesson. Come up with anything creative out of these crosses in 5 minutes. I won a pin for being the best one!

This is the A2 poster printed out in black and white just to get a better grip on the relationship between the elements. It didn’t work to print it out in colour in this size though, for some strange reason, but I’ll try again in A3 or something, because I need to see how the colours works before I send it to print. To print an A2 poster on a printer where there is just A3 papers, simply go into the menu when in InDesign, go to print, A3, setup and then chose “Tile” - auto and 0 mm. Then it will come out as 4 A3 pages that you can put together!

In half an hour I will go with my group member (for the symbol distribution w the flags - thing) to her place somewhere at the countryside one hour away!! I'll meet her family and experience a place outside Sydney! I am so looking forward to that. Tomorrow we'll gt up really early, like 5 because she usually do that, and start creating the world map in the grass consisting of all our collected flags! Also, we'll start to edit the film that we'll be using in the presentation. See you soon!

• Collect everything I have learned this semester by going through all my work and notes and websites, and put them into my “Life Document”. I don’t want all these great tips just to lie there in a notebook in some box, I want to bring it with me wherever I go

• Maybe go to some design exhibitions and events which I haven’t had time for
• Dance!
• Work at some cafe maybe three times a week. But I really need a break! 

… haha I have the feeling that this break will pass quickly. If I was extremely rich, I would have flown home, giving everybody a Freja-hug and my Daniel a kiss. I miss you all, guys and I am so happy that you are reading my blog. Thank you!

Story Board Stop Motion

Ok, this is our story board of the stop motion film, and tonight I'm going to take some sample photos at my desk at home. The film will only be around 13 seconds, so we need to work simple with angles and movements. We are thinking of using 3D cardboard letters (a couple of cm thick), covered in different materials such as for example red silk and fur etc, to give the different letters different personalities. We will also add music to all this. The letter couples will dance with each other and the huge "I":s symbolizes walls, as they were in different hotel rooms. The letters will be backlit by a huge lamp in red light, to make the shadows dancing along with the letters and to get a passionate feeling to it. One of the "I"s will eventually fade out, and there will just be the letters saying SEVGI, added by our tagline. I'll show you what I mean with more visuals tonight. 

I didn't know I would love doing stop motion this much, but I think it's the combination of  planning it all out, the setting, the lights, measurements, photo that moves, photo shop and create the right atmosphere. Wow - what a project! I think I'll try to make a stop motion movie at winter break!

Daniel, I would love to do a stop motion film together with you some day - maybe when you are here at summer break! I think it would be a fun team work thing with a lot of planning and laughs too <3 If you're up for it, write down all ideas of it that crosses your mind, and let's see what we come up with!

Folio, poster and presentation!

I have now worked the whole weekend and I am up to date - feels wonderful!

I recently made the symbols folio out of what I posted in the symbols blog folio, and I'm about to print that out tomorrow. During one lesson, the teacher showed us the symbol of kkk and asked what it is a symbol for. The first thing that got on my mind was the Vodafone logo, haha. See how similar they are! I just HAD to have this as my cover.

The A2 poster is coming along well and for Thursday I'll print it out in black and white just to look at how the text is working in a bigger version.

Also, I just grabbed some screen shots of my progress in my Frameworks presentation.

Later I'll show you the story board of the stop motion film we're doing for our love hotel, and also show some screen shots of my process book in Typography, together with some pics of my printed out brochure with the Giants of Typography.
